Samsung has taken a major step forward by promising 7 years of One UI software updates for its latest flagship devices.

This move highlights the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction and sets a new standard for smartphone longevity and security.

Samsung’s Software Update Policy Evolution

In the past, Samsung offered only two major Android updates and three years of security patches for its devices. However, the company has steadily improved its policy over the years:

  • 2020: Galaxy S20 series received 3 major updates and 4 years of security patches.
  • 2022: Galaxy S21 series and select models got 4 major updates and 5 years of security patches.
  • 2024: With the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung announced 7 years of updates for Android OS, One UI, and security patches.

This policy change positions Samsung as a leader in long-term software support, matching Google’s commitment to its Pixel devices.

Eligible Devices for 7 Years of Updates

The following Samsung Galaxy devices, launched in 2024 or later, will benefit from this extended support:

  • Galaxy S Series: S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S25, S25+, S25 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Series (Foldable): Z Fold6, Z Flip6
  • Galaxy Tablets: Tab S10 series

This policy ensures that these devices will receive the latest Android OS updates, One UI enhancements, and security patches for up to 7 years from their release date.

Why This Matters

  1. Longevity: Users can keep their devices longer without worrying about software obsolescence.
  2. Security: Regular updates protect against evolving cyber threats.
  3. Value: Extended support increases the overall value of Samsung devices, appealing to consumers who prioritize long-term investments.

This policy is especially beneficial for users who prefer to keep their phones for several years, reducing electronic waste and promoting sustainability.

How to Stay Updated

To make the most of this policy, users should regularly check for updates by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. This ensures their devices stay secure and feature-rich.

Samsung’s promise of 7 years of updates is a game-changer in the smartphone industry. It reflects the company’s dedication to customer satisfaction and ensures that Galaxy devices remain modern, secure, and functional for years to come.

Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout and other exciting developments.
