Samsung is planning an ambitious launch for 2025, with four foldable devices expected to debut.
This includes the anticipated Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, along with a lower-cost Z Flip FE and a groundbreaking tri-fold device.
According to reports, the Z Fold 7 may feature a major design change, possibly removing the S Pen digitizer to make the device thinner. This change could result in an S Pen that requires charging, a shift from previous models.
The Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to offer a more affordable option in the flip-style foldable category, while the highlight of the 2025 foldable lineup could be Samsung’s first-ever tri-fold device.
This device will feature a second hinge, expanding the display to between 9.9 and 10 inches when fully opened, significantly larger than the 7.6-inch display of the Z Fold 6.
While the tri-fold device is set to launch in Q3 2025, Samsung is reportedly planning a production volume of only 200,000 units for the year, suggesting a cautious approach to its market reception.
This follows years of rumors about a tri-fold from Samsung, but it was Huawei that beat them to the market with the Mate XT last year.
Samsung’s foldable future looks promising, though it remains to be seen how these devices will perform in a market that has shown slower growth than expected. Alongside the foldables, Samsung is also gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy S25 series.
Takeaway: Samsung is planning a bold 2025 foldable lineup, including the Z Flip 7, Z Fold 7, an FE model, and a tri-fold device with a larger display.
While the market for foldables may not be growing as fast as expected, Samsung’s ambitious approach shows it’s not backing down.
