GTA 6 - Jason and Lucia in Leonida

Rockstar Games Considered Different Story Ideas for GTA 6 Before Final Plot

Rockstar Games may have considered very different story ideas for Grand Theft Auto 6 before finalizing the current plot, according to recent leaks. The highly anticipated game is set to release on May 26, 2026, after a delay from the originally planned fall 2025 launch.

A report by Fravilys on Medium suggests that early versions of GTA 6 included multiple alternate storylines that were later scrapped. One version reportedly featured three playable protagonists: a crooked cop, his son, and the right-hand man to a Colombian drug lord.

Another story followed a Vice City police officer seeking revenge for her mother’s death alongside a drug smuggler. A third concept focused on a police officer and an ex-soldier.

These leaked story ideas come from the time when Dan Houser, Rockstar’s former co-founder and lead writer, was still involved with the company. Houser resigned in 2020, and his last major projects were Red Dead Redemption 2 and its online mode. It’s unclear how much these scrapped stories influenced the final game.

The confirmed story of GTA 6 centers on two characters, Lucia and Jason, navigating Vice City’s criminal world. Lucia starts freshly released from prison, while Jason is involved with drug dealers and dangerous figures. There are rumors that Jason might secretly work for the police, but details remain under wraps.

Fans should take the leaks with caution, but the delay may give Rockstar more time to polish the final experience. GTA 6 promises to deliver a gripping story when it launches next year.
