Capcom just dropped a surprise bombshell at Summer Game Fest 2025 – Resident Evil 9: Requiem is officially launching on 27 February 2026.
Despite earlier claims that no Resident Evil content would appear during the show, fans were stunned when a brand-new trailer for the next installment in the iconic horror series was revealed. And yes, it brought both chills and lore-packed teases.
Meet the New Lead: Grace Ashcroft
The game introduces Grace Ashcroft, an FBI technical analyst who fans suspect is connected to past characters — especially Rose Winters, daughter of Ethan from Resident Evil Village, and the Ashcroft family from Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
In the trailer, Grace is assigned to investigate a mysterious murder case linked to a pathology already under FBI surveillance. But the mission takes a haunting personal twist: she’s being sent to the same hotel where her mother was murdered.
What the Trailer Revealed:
- Dark, moody shots of Raccoon City and the remote hotel
- A narrative-driven setup with psychological horror undertones
- Ties to existing Resident Evil lore, potentially linking multiple timelines
- Creeping dread and trademark RE survival gameplay hints
And of course, things go terribly wrong, as Grace finds herself caught in a deadly nightmare where survival is anything but guaranteed.
Resident Evil 9: Requiem promises to take players deeper into the mythos of the franchise, blending old legends and new threats into one terrifying experience.
