Police in Scotland have charged a 14-year-old girl after she was filmed holding a knife and an axe during a confrontation in Dundee.
The incident, which took place on 23 August, was captured on video and widely shared online, attracting tens of millions of views.
In the footage, the teenager and her 12-year-old sister are seen shouting at a group of men and demanding they leave them alone. At one point, the girl can be seen holding the weapons.
Police Scotland confirmed they responded to a call in St Ann Lane around 19:40. A spokesperson said: “A 14-year-old girl was charged in connection and will be reported to the relevant authorities.”
No charges have been announced against the men shown in the video. Police said they would not provide further details until court proceedings are complete.
The case has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many questioning the UK’s self-defense laws and policing approach.
Figures including businessman Elon Musk and US politician Marjorie Taylor Greene shared criticism of the decision to charge the teenager while no action was taken against the men.
The incident comes amid wider public debate in the UK over safety, harassment, and immigration policy. However, the precise circumstances of the Dundee confrontation remain unclear as investigations continue.
