PC Modding Giant Nexus Mods Changes Ownership After Two Decades

Nexus Mods, one of the world’s biggest websites for PC game mods, has a new owner. Robin “Dark0ne” Scott, who created the site in 2001, has officially handed it over after more than two decades of running it.

Scott shared the news in a post on Monday. He said the decision came after “months of meetings, face-to-face talks, and a whole lot of soul searching.” According to Scott, he has found “the exact right people for the task.”

Running Nexus Mods had taken a toll on Scott. “The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created” had left him burned out, he admitted. After more than 20 years, he realized it was time for someone else to take the lead.

The new owners have not been officially named, but two people—“Foledinho (Victor)” and “Rapsak (Marinus)”—will now lead the site. Scott said they have “deep roots in gaming, tech, and most importantly, they give a damn” about the site and its community.

Scott stressed that this isn’t a corporate buyout or secret business deal. Instead, he said it’s a personal decision to take care of his health and step back from daily responsibilities. “This is me doing something I probably should’ve done years ago,” he wrote.

Even though Scott is stepping down, he’s not leaving completely. He plans to stay active in the community, help guide the site’s future, and continue chatting with users on the forums and Discord.

Nexus Mods hosts thousands of mods for popular PC games like Skyrim, Fallout, and The Witcher. It remains one of the largest and most popular modding sites in the world.
