PayPal Expands Into Travel With In-App Hotel Booking and Discounts

Selfbook PayPal app Offers Lake Como Hotels FINAL

PayPal has introduced hotel booking directly within its app, thanks to a new partnership with hotel payment provider Selfbook.

The feature lets users search for hotels using filters like travel dates and number of guests. Bookings will be made through an in-app browser, and exclusive discounts will be offered to PayPal users. You can also pay with PayPal’s Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) option at select hotels.

Bookings will be available for hotels using Selfbook’s payment system, though it’s unclear if all of Selfbook’s hotel partners are included.

For PayPal, this is part of a bigger push into travel services, with the company reporting an 84% increase in users paying online for travel using its platform.

Selfbook also plans to use PayPal’s enterprise suite to handle credit card payments across its platform. Additionally, Selfbook is embedding hotel booking features into AI-driven services like Perplexity, creating a seamless experience from search to payment.

“With PayPal, we’re collapsing everything into one simple flow embedded in AI-powered experiences,” said Khalid Meniri, CEO of Selfbook.

This partnership is designed to make hotel booking smoother for travelers and give hotels better margins and direct guest relationships.

More PayPal-powered travel features are expected in the future.
