OPPO Denies OnePlus Shutdown Amid Rumors of Brand Cutbacks

Recent reports claiming OnePlus phones are “no more” have stirred concern among fans, but the company has officially denied any shutdown. The rumors follow a period of restructuring and product changes under parent company OPPO.

OnePlus launched in 2014 with the goal of delivering flagship-level specs at affordable prices. Known for its “Never Settle” motto, it quickly gained a loyal following in India, North America, and Europe.

In 2021, OnePlus merged fully with OPPO, becoming a sub-brand rather than an independent company. This shift raised questions about the brand’s identity and autonomy.

Reports suggested office closures, canceled products like the OnePlus Open 2 foldable, and declining shipments, fueling speculation of a phased shutdown. Analysts noted challenges in key markets such as India.

OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu refuted the claims, saying business operations continue normally. He urged fans and stakeholders not to rely on unverified rumors.

Industry observers say the changes reflect broader strategic realignments by OPPO. OnePlus now shares resources, software, and supply chains with OPPO, while other BBK Electronics brands like Realme have been consolidated.

The smartphone market remains highly competitive, with Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Honor vying for market share. OnePlus’s sales pressures may be part of OPPO’s effort to streamline operations.

In short, OnePlus as a brand is evolving, but there is no official confirmation that the phones are being discontinued. Fans are advised to follow official updates for accurate information.
