Apple’s Dynamic Island has been criticized for being underused, often only displaying basic notifications without much interactivity. OnePlus has improved on this concept with its Live Alerts feature on the OnePlus 13.
Live Alerts are dynamic and disappear when not in use, offering a cleaner screen. When interacting with notifications, such as music from Spotify, tapping the alert expands it into a card that lets users control playback and access recent playlists.
Unlike Dynamic Island, which only shows one notification at a time, Live Alerts allow multiple cards to be stacked, enabling users to keep track of various tasks at once.
However, Live Alerts are currently limited to Spotify for music controls and lack support for other popular apps like YouTube Music and Uber.
Despite this, OnePlus’s approach is a significant improvement over Dynamic Island, offering better interactivity and multitasking.
Samsung is also working on a similar feature called the “Now Bar,” but it may face similar limitations. Ultimately, Google could unify this experience across Android, creating a more cohesive solution.
OnePlus’s Live Alerts offer a more refined and interactive alternative to Apple’s Dynamic Island, setting a new standard for Android notifications.
