Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says the Nintendo Switch 2’s new chip is “unlike anything we’ve ever built before.”
Just days before the console’s official release, Nintendo released a special Creator’s Voice video focused on the Switch 2’s custom chip — the Nvidia T239 processor.
In the video, Huang honors the vision of late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, who wanted to create a console powerful enough for big games but small enough to carry anywhere. Huang says this vision inspired the new console’s design and mission.
More than 500 engineers worked on the new chip, which supports ray tracing, high-end graphics, and full backwards compatibility, all while using very little power.
“We had to reinvent everything,” said Huang. “This chip is a technical marvel — power, performance, and portability, all in your hand.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches in two days, and fans are eager to see how the powerful new chip performs in real-world gameplay.
