NordVPN Launches NordProtect for Identity Theft Protection

NordProtect

NordVPN has introduced NordProtect, a new service to protect users from identity theft and Social Security number (SSN) leaks.

The feature is currently available for NordVPN Prime users in the U.S. and will expand to more regions and as a standalone product in early 2025.

What NordProtect Offers:

  1. Identity Recovery: Victims of identity theft can receive up to $1 million to cover recovery costs, including legal fees and lost wages. Each user gets a personal case manager to assist in restoring their identity.
  2. Cyber Extortion Protection: Up to $100,000 is available to handle cyber threats, such as extortion involving leaked data or device access.
  3. Dark Web Monitoring: The service scans the dark web for leaked credentials, SSNs, or other sensitive data. It also includes credit monitoring, monthly credit score updates, and alerts for suspicious activity.

NordProtect is part of Nord Security’s ecosystem, which includes tools like NordPass (password manager) and NordLocker (encrypted cloud storage).

How Does It Compare?
NordProtect rivals similar features offered by ExpressVPN’s Identity Defender, which provides ID alerts, theft insurance, and data removal. Both services are only available in the U.S. for now.

This new addition makes NordVPN more than just a VPN provider—it’s a broader security solution for protecting your digital identity.
