The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to be the subject of leaks, and now reports suggest that early units are being sold on the black market in China for nearly $40,000.
Black Market Sales of Nintendo Switch 2
A post on the Nintendo Switch 2 subreddit highlights a claim from a Xiahongshu forums user, who previously leaked CAD models of the console before its official reveal last month.
The user shared a screenshot of a conversation with a seller, stating that a Nintendo Switch 2 unit, complete with dock and Joy-Con controllers, is priced at 290,000 RMB (around $39,780).
While no regular gamer would spend such a massive sum to get the console early, the main buyers appear to be manufacturers looking to test accessories on real hardware before its official launch. If true, this could give accessory makers a huge advantage in developing products ahead of time.
How Likely Is This to Be True?
There’s no concrete proof that these black market units are real, but given that the same user previously shared an accurate CAD model of the console, it’s possible that this latest leak has some merit.
With Nintendo’s dedicated Switch 2 Direct set to air on April 2nd, more details about the console will likely surface soon.
Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date
The Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed to launch sometime in 2025, but an exact release window has yet to be announced. With preview events scheduled until late May, speculation points to a second-half 2025 release.
With hype around the Nintendo Switch 2 growing, these black market sales suggest that demand for the console is already at an all-time high—even before its official launch.
