As 2025 begins, new leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 are surfacing, including a fresh patent that hints at exciting features.
The patent, filed in July 2023, reveals AI image upscaling technology that could allow the console to offer 4K textures while keeping game sizes manageable for physical cartridges.
Along with the patent, recent leaks show internal components of the Switch 2, matching earlier leaks that suggested a larger screen and magnetic Joy-Cons.
A USB-C port appears on both the top and bottom of the device. The console will also be backward-compatible with original Switch games and support Nintendo Switch Online, as confirmed by Nintendo.
While the official reveal is expected by the end of March 2025, the Switch 2 is likely to launch in April 2025 or later.
Leaked specs include 12GB of RAM (compared to the original Switchโs 4GB) and 256GB of internal storage, a significant upgrade.
Developers are already planning to release games for the new console, with Nintendo aiming for sufficient stock to prevent scalping when it launches.
