A new leak has surfaced online, claiming that a Metroid Prime 5 game is in development exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to a well-known Nintendo leaker, Nash Weedle, the game won’t be released until 2027, alongside Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The leak suggests that Metroid Prime 5 will focus on “vertical exploration with altered gravity,” but details remain scarce.
This news comes amidst growing rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, which has yet to receive official information on its release date, price, or games.
The leaker also suggests that the two Metroid Prime games are being developed in tandem, which would significantly shorten the gap between the games compared to the 18-year wait for Metroid Prime 4.
While the leak offers intriguing insight into the future of the Metroid Prime series, it’s important to remember that this information is still unconfirmed. Nintendo has not commented on the leak, and the developer, Retro Studios, is not directly mentioned.
The Metroid Prime series, originally launched on the GameCube in 2002, has been a fan favorite, with Metroid Prime 1 and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes being considered some of the best games of their time.
