A Reddit user claims to have seen and touched the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing new details about the console.

A Redditor named “NextHandheld” has shared information about Nintendo’s next console, the Nintendo Switch 2.

The leaker claims to have handled a final retail unit and provided photos of the dock and controller rail.

What We Know So Far

  • Dock Design: The Switch 2 dock reportedly resembles the original but includes a “2” in the logo. It has the same ports: two USB-A, one HDMI, one Ethernet, and one USB-C for power.
  • Magnetic Controllers: Nintendo might replace traditional controller rails with magnets, allowing Joy-Cons to snap into place. Photos show a rounded hollow area with a 13-pin connector instead of rails.
  • Joystick Improvement: The new controllers may feature drift-resistant joysticks, addressing a common issue with the original Joy-Cons.

Name and Announcement

Nintendo has referred to the console as the “successor to Nintendo Switch” and plans to announce it by March 31, 2025. However, the leaker suggests it could be revealed as early as January 2024, likely under the name “Nintendo Switch 2.”

Backward Compatibility

The console is confirmed to support original Switch games, making it an appealing upgrade for current users.

While Nintendo has yet to confirm these details, the leaks suggest exciting updates for the Switch 2. Fans can look forward to more news, possibly early next year.
