The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with a more robust lineup than its predecessor, according to a new tease from a trusted Nintendo insider.

While the original Switch launched with a relatively small selection of games in 2017, the Switch 2’s launch lineup is expected to include more third-party titles, making it bigger overall.

When the original Switch debuted, it was accompanied by one of the greatest games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which carried the launch lineup.

However, outside of Zelda, the selection was sparse, with games like 1-2-Switch and Super Bomberman R failing to make a significant impact. Despite this, Breath of the Wild made the launch one of the best in gaming history.

The insider, Samus Hunter, has previously proven reliable, sharing accurate information about Nintendo in the past.

According to the latest tease, the Switch 2 will have a similar output to the original Switch, but with more third-party games available at launch, a stark contrast to the first Switch’s limited third-party support at release.

This increase in third-party support is expected, as the Switch has become one of the best-selling consoles of all time, with developers now eager to get in on the action.

While the exact games and release date remain unconfirmed, there are hints that a new Mario Kart game may not be ready for launch, but a remake of a classic PS1 game could be.

Additionally, rumors suggest a new 3D Mario game may launch alongside the Switch 2, potentially filling the role of Breath of the Wild in terms of significance and impact.
