Newcastle Bid €80M for Leipzig’s Sesko Amid Isak Exit Rumors

Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle United have made a €80 million offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, intensifying a transfer battle with Manchester United just weeks before the Premier League season kicks off.

The offer includes €75 million upfront and €5 million in add-ons, meeting Leipzig’s asking price for the 22-year-old Slovenian forward. Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and is considered one of Europe’s top young attacking talents.

Newcastle’s interest comes amid uncertainty over their own striker, Alexander Isak, who has drawn a £110 million bid from Liverpool. While Newcastle are holding out for £150 million, they view Sesko as a strong replacement option. The club has reportedly pitched an ambitious long-term project to convince Sesko to join.

Manchester United, under new manager Ruben Amorim, also see Sesko as a key target. They have already strengthened their attack this summer with the signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha but remain in direct contact with both Leipzig and Sesko’s representatives.

Sesko, who stands at 6 feet 5 inches, is known for his speed, strength, and aerial presence. Despite some inconsistency in the Bundesliga last season, where he scored 13 goals, his physical attributes and potential have drawn comparisons to Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez.

A gentleman’s agreement with Leipzig allows Sesko to leave for €80–90 million if a major club makes an offer — a condition both Newcastle and Manchester United fulfill.

Although Slovenian reports suggested Sesko may be leaning toward Newcastle, top journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that no final decision has been made. Leipzig’s managing director Marcel Schafer acknowledged strong interest from several clubs and confirmed that Sesko missed a recent friendly match due to ongoing transfer discussions.

With both Premier League clubs pushing hard, Sesko’s next move could be one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window.
