New Xbox Handheld Console Leaked – Is This the Switch 2 Rival We’ve Been Waiting For?

New Xbox Handheld Console Leaked – Is This the Switch 2 Rival We’ve Been Waiting For?

In an unexpected twist just weeks before the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, leaked images have surfaced showing a potential handheld gaming device from Xbox.

This device, made in partnership with Asus, seems to be a variant of the Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming PC but with a distinct Xbox logo button.

The leaked photos, initially spotted in an Indonesian product listing and later confirmed through an FCC listing, show a device that resembles the ROG Ally 2, with updated features like a 7-inch 120Hz display and an 8-core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme CPU, which offers more power than the 4-core CPU in the standard version of the ROG Ally 2.

The presence of the Xbox logo on the device indicates it could be Xbox’s answer to the growing handheld gaming market, an area they’ve been rumored to be exploring for some time.

The device’s design and specs suggest that it is more of a modified version of the ROG Ally 2 rather than a completely new Xbox console.

Details on the device’s functionality are still unclear. It remains to be seen whether the Xbox button on the device opens a special Xbox operating system or merely the Xbox Windows app.

There are also questions about whether there will be any differences in game compatibility between this new Xbox variant and the original ROG Ally 2.

While full details are yet to emerge, it’s clear that Xbox is ready to compete in the handheld gaming space. The device’s FCC certification indicates that an official announcement could be coming soon.
