It takes place five years before the original story and follows Koichi Haimawari, a young man inspired by All Might to become a hero. As the story progresses, Koichi finds himself in dangerous situations and uncovers a darker side of the hero world. Fans will also see familiar characters from the main series, but at earlier stages in their lives and careers.

The anime is produced by Studio Bones’ new division, Bones Film. It is directed by Kenichi Suzuki, with Yosuke Kuroda returning to handle the script. Character designs are overseen by Takahiko Yoshida, and music is composed by Yuki Hayashi alongside Shogo Yamashiro and Yuki Furuhashi.
