Nickelodeon is expanding the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe with a brand-new animated series, “Avatar: Seven Havens.” The show, which will be in 2D animation, follows a new Earthbender Avatar after Korra, exploring a world facing a major crisis.
The series will have 26 episodes across two seasons, continuing the storytelling style of Books 1 & 2 like previous Avatar series. It comes from Avatar Studios, led by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and is currently in production.
According to the official plot, the story takes place in a world shattered by a major disaster. The new Avatar discovers her identity, but instead of being seen as a hero, people fear her as a destroyer. She must join forces with her long-lost twin to uncover their past and save the Seven Havens before humanity’s last safe places fall.
DiMartino and Konietzko expressed excitement about returning to the world they created nearly 20 years ago. “We never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” they said. “This new incarnation is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
This will be the third animated Avatar series, following The Last Airbender (2005-2008) and The Legend of Korra (2012-2014). Fans can also look forward to an animated film about Aang and his friends, set to release in January 2026, with actors Dave Bautista, Eric Nam, and Dionne Quan in the voice cast.
The announcement comes as Avatar: The Last Airbender celebrates its 20th anniversary, with Nickelodeon and Paramount planning special events, new digital content, games, and merchandise. Fans of the Avatarverse now have even more adventures to look forward to!
