More Ads Are Coming to YouTube Premium Lite – Here’s What’s Changing

YouTube Premium Lite will soon show more ads, even though it is a paid plan. Google has confirmed that starting June 30, 2025, users will see ads on YouTube Shorts, music content, and while browsing or searching.

Premium Lite launched earlier this year for $7.99 per month. It offers fewer ads than the free version but is not completely ad-free.

The plan also does not include features like background play, video downloads, or access to YouTube Music.

Google has started sending emails to Premium Lite users to inform them about the changes. The company says that most regular videos will remain ad-free, but ads will now appear in more places.

This update will apply to users in different regions at the same time, starting June 30.
