Mix Wave has unveiled the HiBy R1 digital audio player (DAP), designed for high-resolution music enthusiasts.

This compact, pop-colored device offers features like support for Tidal, Qobuz, DSD, and PCM streams, as well as Bluetooth connectivity with LDAC for high-quality audio. The HiBy R1 also supports microSD cards up to 2TB, allowing users to store thousands of songs.

The device is powered by a Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC and a high-fidelity headphone amplifier, which can drive high-impedance headphones via the 3.5mm headphone jack.

It also supports Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless music streaming with SBC, AAC, aptX, and LDAC codecs. Additionally, users can connect the R1 to home audio systems via an optional USB-C DAC out cable.

With a 800 x 600 pixel LCD touchscreen, the R1 offers MSEB audio controls for nuanced sound adjustments, such as sibilance and tonal warmth.

The HiBy OS, based on Linux, can be updated over-the-air. The device measures 3.3 x 2.0 x 0.5 inches and weighs 2.5 oz, offering a 15-hour battery life that recharges in 2 hours via USB-C.

The HiBy R1 is available for purchase on Amazon US for $109 in black, blue, or green, or from the Mix Wave Japan store for 16,800 yen in black, blue, green, orange, and white.
