Mojang has rolled out a major update for Minecraft Bedrock Edition, bringing version 1.21.80 to players on all platforms. This update introduces flat world presets, new experimental features, and many bug fixes that improve gameplay.
The biggest feature is the new Flat World Presets. Players can now choose from options like Tunnelers’ Dream, Water World, Redstone Ready, and more when creating a flat world. This makes building and exploring in flat environments easier and more fun.
Mojang also added several parity updates to bring Bedrock closer to Java Edition. The Totem of Undying now gives 45 seconds of regeneration. Players can now use a stonecutter to craft cut sandstone slabs, just like in Java.
This update fixes many issues with blocks, mobs, and gameplay. For example, wolves now make the correct sound when spawning, and players no longer fall through blocks at specific coordinates. Mob behavior has also improved—camels won’t spawn in small spaces, and parrots can now mimic more enemy mobs.
One exciting part of the update is the new experimental features. Players can turn on “Game Drop 2 2025” to try out new content like the Dried Ghast block, Ghastling mob, and the Happy Ghast—a large, friendly flying creature that can carry up to four players at once. You can craft a Harness to ride it and even feed it snowballs to help it grow.
Another experimental feature is Vibrant Visuals, which improves lighting and effects in the game. This is available on high-performance devices, including Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and select Android and iOS models. It adds a fresh visual style to Minecraft, although it’s still under development.
The update also adds a Realms region selector, audio improvements, UI fixes, and performance enhancements. Mojang continues to improve the game for all players and bring Bedrock closer to the Java experience.
To explore the full update, make sure to enable the new settings in the Create World menu and try out the latest features for yourself.
