Fans of Metro Boomin will have to wait a bit longer for his latest project, A Futuristic Summa. The St. Louis-born producer announced late last night that the mixtape’s release has been delayed until next week.
“PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE FUTURISTIC SUMMA NEXT WEEK,” Metro wrote on social media, without providing a specific date. Originally, the mixtape was set to drop on Tuesday, July 22.
Based on his statement, fans now expect it to arrive either on July 29 or August 1. Some outlets, like Genius, have listed August 1 as the release date, aligning with the industry’s traditional Friday launch schedule.
The last-minute announcement has left some fans disappointed, especially since the update came just before the expected release. However, Metro hinted at the reason behind the delay by tagging rapper Future in his post, suggesting he’s still waiting on a feature from the Atlanta superstar.
A voicemail from Future, also known as “Pluto,” further supported this. In the recording, Future says, “Three times where you at? I’m pulling up to the lab right now. I gotta drop a verse on this FUTURISTIC SUMMA sht.”*
While Metro and Future have a history of successful collaborations, some fans expressed frustration, claiming the producer relies too heavily on Future for features. This comes after Metro previously teased A Futuristic Summa as an album with an “all new cast.”
So far, confirmed appearances include Roscoe Dash on the lead single Slide, and Quavo is also rumored to be involved. With a 20-song tracklist, many of the collaborators remain unannounced, leaving hope for some unexpected surprises.
Despite the delay, fans still look forward to the full release, which promises to be a major moment in Metro Boomin’s discography.
