Meta is establishing a new product unit focused on developing AI tools for the 200 million businesses using its platforms. The group will be led by Clara Shih, former CEO of Salesforce AI, who will focus on creating and monetizing AI solutions for businesses.

The initiative aims to provide AI-driven tools that help businesses improve customer interactions and advertising effectiveness. An early example is Meta’s business AI chatbot for WhatsApp and Messenger, which allows companies to set up customer communication channels.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has highlighted the potential business impact, noting that AI-driven ad creation tools have already shown a 7% increase in conversion rates. The new product group will expand beyond advertising to create deeper customer relationship tools.

Shih emphasized the group’s mission to make cutting-edge AI accessible to businesses that may not know how to implement AI technologies. The initiative builds on Meta’s existing AI infrastructure, including its Llama large language model, which has been downloaded over 600 million times.

The move represents a strategic expansion of Meta’s AI capabilities, targeting business innovation and potential new revenue streams.
