Marvel fans are clashing online over the possible return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
Jackman, who’s played the fan-favorite mutant for over two decades, was expected to retire the role. But after starring alongside Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, it now looks like he’s not done yet.
Rumors suggest Jackman is reprising the role once more for both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Leaked set photos hint at X-Mansion scenes and appearances from Cyclops and Magneto, fueling speculation that Wolverine will join the action.
But Jackman’s keeping things vague. In a recent interview, he said: “I actually have nothing to add.” Fans, of course, aren’t buying it.
“He’s in. He just can’t say it,” one fan wrote.
“I don’t think he’ll show up until Secret Wars,” added another.
Some want to see Jackman take one last victory lap with the X-Men. Others argue it’s time for a new actor to take on Wolverine, with one fan joking, “At this point Marvel should just digitally preserve Hugh forever.”
A few even suggested a comic-style twist, like Wolverine and Deadpool missing the entire fight and arriving late—typical Deadpool chaos.
Whatever happens, Wolverine’s future in the MCU is still up in the air, and fans are eagerly waiting to see if Jackman will unsheath the claws one more time.
