Marvel Rivals Shakes Up Gameplay With Season 3 Balance Patch

Marvel Rivals is set to launch Season 3 on July 11, featuring significant balance updates across its roster and the introduction of two new Duelists: Jean Grey and Blade.

NetEase Games aims to keep gameplay fresh with faster seasons—each lasting just two months—and more frequent updates, much to the excitement of the community.

Key Balance Adjustments

Vanguards get notable buffs and tweaks:

  • The Thing gains a new leap attack called Battle Blitz, granting 25% damage reduction and enhanced knockdown effects on flying enemies.
  • Venom’s slowing ability is increased from 15% to 25%.
  • Emma Frost sees a slight nerf to damage and survivability but a reduced ultimate energy cost.

Duelists see both buffs and nerfs:

  • Blade joins mid-season as a Duelist.
  • Iron Man faces an increased ultimate energy cost and reduced damage on early hits.
  • Human Torch loses some damage but gains a team-up anchor bonus.
  • Mister Fantastic has reduced bonus health in his Inflated state.

Strategists receive tweaks to abilities and ultimates:

  • Invisible Woman’s healing and damage on Orb Projection are adjusted.
  • Loki’s ultimate costs more energy.
  • Mantis has a more potent healing ultimate but with less frequent activation.
  • Ultron’s defensive buffs are reduced.

New and Updated Team-Up Abilities

New:

  • Human Torch & Spider-Man unlock Ever-Burning Bond, boosting Human Torch’s damage by 5% and granting Spider-Man a new ability, Inferno Blast.
  • Jean Grey & Wolverine unlock Primal Flame, boosting Phoenix’s damage and granting Wolverine the Phoenix Warrior ability.

Adjusted or Removed:

  • Some older team-ups like Spider-Man & Squirrel Girl and Storm & Human Torch have seen anchor effects or abilities removed or adjusted.
  • Venom’s team-ups now include Hela gaining the Hel Tendrils ability.

Season Structure and Updates

  • Seasons will now last two months, with a new character added roughly every four weeks, starting with Jean Grey on launch and Blade arriving in August.
  • Frequent balance changes will keep gameplay dynamic and competitive.

Fans have responded positively to these changes, anticipating a more balanced and engaging experience with the launch of Season 3.
