The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 list was revealed on June 19 in Turin, Italy, with Maido in Lima, Peru, taking the coveted No. 1 spot. Maido, known for its unique blend of Japanese techniques and Peruvian ingredients, climbed from No. 5 last year to the top this year.
The second and third places went to Asador Etxebarri in Spain and Quintonil in Mexico City respectively. The list featured restaurants from 22 territories across five continents, including 10 new entries.
Asia continues to make its mark with several restaurants ranking high. Bangkok leads with six restaurants, including Gaggan (6th), Potong (13th, Highest New Entry), Sorn (17th), Suhring (22nd), Le Du (30th), and Nusara (35th, New Entry). Other notable Asian restaurants include Tokyo’s Sezanne (7th), Hong Kong’s Wing (11th) and The Chairman (19th), Seoul’s Mingles (29th), and Osaka’s La Cime (44th).
Special awards highlighted leaders in the industry: Pichaya “Pam” Soontornyanakij from Potong was named World’s Best Female Chef 2025, London’s Ikoyi earned the Highest Climber Award, and Massimo Bottura received the Icon Award for his culinary leadership and social impact.
Other notable awards include the Art of Hospitality Award to Hong Kong’s Wing, the Sustainable Restaurant Award to Celele in Colombia, and the Chefs’ Choice Award to Albert Adrià of Enigma in Barcelona.
