Lil Wayne Reacts to Kendrick Lamar’s Name Drop on GNX

Lil Wayne recently reacted to Kendrick Lamar’s mention of him on GNX’s track “wacced out murals,” released on November 22, 2024.

On social media, Wayne expressed frustration, saying, “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head.”

Lamar’s lyrics reference his respect for Wayne while suggesting his own success has overshadowed him: “Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud/ Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down.” This sparked mixed reactions, with some seeing it as a critique.

The tension also relates to the Super Bowl LIX, where Kendrick is headlining. Many fans believe Wayne should’ve been chosen, especially given the event’s New Orleans location, which he has expressed disappointment over.

The hip-hop community is divided over Lamar’s lyrics. Some view it as a necessary evolution, while others see it as disrespectful to legends like Wayne, highlighting ongoing generational shifts in the genre.
