Xiaomi has firmly denied recent rumors that it is ending its partnership with German camera maker Leica. The company confirmed that the collaboration is not only ongoing but growing stronger.
The rumors began when well-known tech tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Xiaomi and Leica were parting ways. The report quickly spread across social media and tech news outlets.
However, Xiaomi’s General Manager of Public Relations, Wang Hua, dismissed the claims as false. Referring to similar speculation from 2023, Wang said, “Last time, a blogger said the Xiaomi 14 would be the last in the Leica series. I called it nonsense then. This time, there’s even a named author, so my reply needs an upgrade: it’s still nonsense.”
Xiaomi highlighted several actions taken recently that reinforce its commitment to Leica. In May, the company updated its camera watermark design to match Leica’s global branding. In June, it explained Leica’s “Authentic” and “Vibrant” image profiles and announced plans to bring Leica’s shutter sounds to older phone models.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra continues to showcase the co-branded effort, featuring Leica-tuned lenses, Leica’s signature image modes, and a user interface inspired by the iconic red-accent Leica design. The phone also includes six tone presets and custom imaging algorithms co-developed with Leica.
Xiaomi India also confirmed the partnership remains strong. A spokesperson told Gizmochina, “Recent rumors suggesting the end of our collaboration are entirely unfounded. This partnership continues to thrive, grounded in a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of mobile imaging.”
Meanwhile, Xiaomi continues to expand its product lineup. The company recently launched a compact 20,000mAh power bank with a built-in cable in India, and an 8000W modular track socket featuring child safety protections and smart functions.
