Kim Kardashian has revealed that she shortened her name from “Kimberly” before appearing on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
The 45-year-old star said she made the change after seeing her name on the show’s chyron. “I think that’s so long for people to say. Let’s just shorten it to Kim,” she told Time. Friends and family, including her father, still call her Kimberly.
Kardashian also shared that she was the driving force behind her family agreeing to do the reality show. She had dreamed of appearing on a show since watching MTV’s The Real World as a teenager and persuaded her sisters to join.
The family initially planned the series to promote their Dash clothing stores, which opened in 2006 and closed in 2018. Kardashian explained that highlighting the store was a key reason her sisters agreed to participate.
