Kendrick Lamar dominated the 2025 BET Awards in Los Angeles, winning five of the biggest awards of the night. The event was hosted by comedian Kevin Hart at the Peacock Theater.
Lamar won Album of the Year for GNX, his 2024 release that topped charts and received critical praise. He also took home Video of the Year for “Not Like Us,” which was praised for its strong visuals and message.
His hit song “Luther,” featuring SZA, won Best Collaboration. The song spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is a highlight of his Grand National Tour.
Lamar and Dave Free shared the award for Video Director of the Year, showing their creative leadership in music visuals. He also won Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, marking his eighth time winning in this category.
During his speech, Lamar thanked BET for supporting Black culture and dedicated his win to fans and his PG Lang team. He also encouraged fans to catch his ongoing tour with SZA.
Lamar’s wins come during a strong year, with high-profile releases and a public rap rivalry with Drake keeping him in the spotlight.
Other winners included SZA, Chris Brown, and Doechii. Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Kirk Franklin, and Jamie Foxx were honored with the Ultimate Icon Award.
With GNX already gaining attention for next year’s Grammys, Kendrick Lamar’s BET Awards sweep confirms his lasting influence in music and culture.
