Podcast host Joe Rogan called the shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent “horrible” and “ugly”, marking his latest public break with President Donald Trump.
Rogan made the comments Tuesday on “The Joe Rogan Experience.” He said Good’s death was a “terrible tragedy” and criticized the use of force by federal agents.
Rogan also questioned the Trump administration’s claim that the shooting was self-defense. He said video of the incident appears to show Good turning her vehicle away, not toward the officer.
The Trump administration has said the ICE agent acted to protect himself. Trump has claimed Good tried to hit the officer with her car, a description disputed by local and state officials.
Rogan went further by criticizing the administration’s immigration crackdown. He warned against militarized enforcement, saying citizens should not fear being detained for lacking paperwork.
Rogan previously supported Trump during the 2024 election and interviewed him on his podcast. In recent months, however, Rogan has publicly disagreed with Trump on immigration and foreign policy.
Other conservative figures have also voiced concern. Tucker Carlson called Good’s death a tragedy, urging sympathy regardless of political views.
The killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, has sparked protests and renewed debate over ICE operations, accountability, and use of force nationwide.
