Jisoo, a member of Blackpink, and actor Park Jeong-min will star in a new Korean zombie series, Newtopia, set to release on Prime Video.

The series will debut globally on February 7, 2024, and will also be available on the Korean streaming platform Coupang Play.

Newtopia follows a couple trying to reunite during a zombie outbreak in Seoul. Park Jeong-min plays Lee Jae-yoon, a man who is serving his mandatory military service. Jisoo stars as Kang Young-joo, his girlfriend who is dealing with early career struggles.

The show’s plot reveals that Jae-yoon faces anxiety about his future and has a sudden breakup with Young-joo after an argument. But when a zombie outbreak hits the city, Jae-yoon must lead his squad.

Meanwhile, Young-joo, frustrated with Jae-yoon’s misunderstanding of her feelings, witnesses the chaos of the zombie attack and must adapt to survive. The couple’s journey to reunite is filled with action, romance, and comedy.

The series is written by Han Jin-won, co-writer of Parasite, and Jee Ho-jin, known for A Shop for Killers. Director Yoon Sung-hyun, who worked with Park on Bleak Night and Time to Hunt, is behind the camera.

Newtopia marks Jisoo’s second major acting role after her lead performance in Snowdrop. Park Jeong-min brings his critical acclaim to the series, having won awards for his roles in Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet and Deliver Us From Evil.

The show will release weekly episodes from February 7 to March 21, 2024, and will be available in over 240 countries on Prime Video.
