Jennifer Aniston will star in and executive produce a new 10-episode dramedy series for Apple TV+. The show is based on Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died. Aniston will play the narcissistic mother of a young actress starring in a popular children’s television show.
The series will explore the difficult and complex relationship between a controlling stage mother and her daughter. Narcissistic mothers often treat their children as extensions of themselves, pushing them to succeed for their own gain, while struggling to show empathy. This theme has been portrayed in films like Mommie Dearest and Black Swan.
Aniston’s role marks a shift from her recent work on The Morning Show, highlighting her dramatic range as she takes on the challenging part of a mother who lives vicariously through her child’s career. The series is co-written and produced by Jennette McCurdy herself, promising an authentic and personal portrayal.
Production has not yet started, and the show is expected to premiere in late 2026 or 2027. This project extends Aniston’s collaboration with Apple TV+ beyond her ongoing role in The Morning Show, which is set to release its fourth season in September 2025.
