Japan Releases Free Minecraft Map of Giant Underground Flood Tunnel

The Minecraft G Cans

The Japanese government has released a free Minecraft map of the world’s largest underground flood prevention facility. The map lets players explore the G-Cans system, located under the suburbs of Tokyo.

The facility is known for its huge underground tank with 59 large pillars. In Japan, it is called the “underground temple” because of its dramatic appearance.

The map was made by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to teach people how the flood system works. It includes both underground and above-ground areas, such as rivers, homes, and control rooms.

Players can even try to move water into the tunnel system, just like real engineers do during floods. This shows how the facility protects Tokyo from heavy rains and typhoons.

To use the map, players need Minecraft Bedrock Edition (version 1.21.1) or Education Edition (version 1.21.0). The map is free to download from the official website of the Edogawa River Office.

This project gives Minecraft players a fun and educational way to learn about disaster prevention in Japan.
