Jackie Chan is ready to return as Chief Inspector Lee, but he’s urging Hollywood to move faster on Rush Hour 4.
Speaking to ScreenRant during the Karate Kid: Legends red carpet event, Chan confirmed that the long-rumored sequel is still in development, though no timeline is set.
“The script is still going on,” Chan said. “I don’t know. Ask the director, ask the studio, ask the writer. Hurry up! Otherwise, Chris Tucker and me [will be] 100 years old.”
Chan added that he’s excited not only for Rush Hour 4 but also hopes to revive another fan-favorite franchise with a new Shanghai Dawn film, following Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights.
What’s the status of Rush Hour 4?
Both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have expressed interest in reprising their roles. However, the film still lacks a confirmed director or production schedule.
Brett Ratner, who directed the original Rush Hour trilogy, has been out of the industry since 2018 amid misconduct allegations, making his return unlikely. Lionsgate has reportedly been tied to the project, but nothing official has been announced.
For now, fans can take comfort in knowing that both stars are on board — they’re just waiting on the studios to greenlight it.
