iPhone Fold May Launch This Year With Major Display Breakthrough

Apple’s first foldable iPhone might be closer than we think.

A new leak claims the so-called iPhone Fold will feature a display that is almost completely crease-free.

The information comes from Chinese leaker Fixed Focus Digital, who shared fresh details on Weibo. According to the post, the screen crease is controlled to under 0.15mm, with a fold angle of less than 2.5 degrees.

In simple terms, that means the crease could be barely noticeable. For comparison, a sheet of paper is about 0.1mm thick. So the fold mark may feel smoother than running your finger across two sheets stacked together.

Reports last year suggested Apple had made a breakthrough in reducing visible creases on foldable screens. These new measurements appear to support that claim and suggest the company has solved one of the biggest problems with foldable phones.

The leaker also said that manufacturing orders for Apple’s foldable display have already appeared on production lines. He added that the device is “confirmed to launch this year.”

If true, this would mark Apple’s first entry into the foldable phone market, competing with devices like Samsung’s Galaxy Z series.

Nothing is official yet. But if the leaks are accurate, Apple’s foldable iPhone could arrive later this year with one of the cleanest folding displays we’ve seen so far.
