The iPhone 17 Pro Max has surfaced in newly leaked renders, hinting at a long-overdue redesign that could shake up Apple’s flagship lineup.
Noted Apple leaker Sonny Dickson shared images showcasing the device in a MagSafe case, giving us a glimpse of what could be one of Apple’s boldest design changes in years.
A New Camera Layout Inspired by Google Pixel
One of the biggest changes appears to be the camera module’s new layout. Unlike previous iPhones, where the camera lenses and sensors were clustered in a square, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to stretch its camera bar across the entire back of the phone, resembling Google’s Pixel series.
The triangular camera arrangement remains, but Apple has moved the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR scanner to the opposite side, creating a more symmetrical look. This redesign could serve both an aesthetic purpose and practical improvements in camera performance and stabilization.
Thinner Design and a Shrinking Dynamic Island?
Leaks also suggest that Apple is finally making the Dynamic Island smaller on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, thanks to an advanced metalens Face ID system. This could be a welcome improvement for users who found the current Dynamic Island too intrusive.
Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly introducing an ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air, alongside the Pro models. However, the base iPhone 17 and 17 Plus are expected to keep the current design, possibly to create a stronger distinction between standard and premium models.
More Upgrades Coming
Beyond the design changes, the iPhone 17 series is rumored to feature:
- 24MP selfie cameras for sharper front-facing shots
- Vapor chamber cooling for better heat management
- 120Hz displays across all models—finally bringing ProMotion to non-Pro iPhones
Apple is expected to officially unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September, but as leaks continue to surface, this might be one of the most exciting iPhone releases in years.
