iPhone 17 Design Rumors: Horizontal Cameras on the Horizon?

Apple iPhone 17 Pro Phones Leaks

A new leak hints at a significant redesign for the upcoming iPhone 17 series, including a potential change in the camera arrangement.

According to the latest report from Digital Chat Station, a trusted leaker, the cameras on some iPhone 17 models could be repositioned horizontally, a design reminiscent of the iPhone 8.

A Major Shift in Design?

The current iPhone 16 models feature vertically arranged cameras, with three lenses on the Pro models and two on the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

If the new leak proves true, the iPhone 17 could adopt a horizontal row of cameras, similar to the Google Pixel series. This change could offer practical benefits, such as reducing wobbling when the phone is placed on a flat surface.

However, experts remain skeptical. Apple typically sticks with a design for at least one generation, making it unlikely for the iPhone 17 to drastically change the camera layout just a year after the iPhone 16’s redesign.

Additionally, the iPhone 16’s vertical camera arrangement was designed to enable spatial video recording in landscape mode, a feature that might be difficult to maintain with a horizontal layout.

Will Apple Follow the Trend?

Despite the leak’s credibility, there are doubts about Apple adopting a horizontal camera setup. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max already received a subtle redesign this year, and a more dramatic overhaul might not come until 2025.

Apple may also avoid following the trend set by competitors, preferring to maintain its own distinct design.

For now, it’s unclear whether the iPhone 17 will indeed feature this new camera layout. As always with leaks, it’s best to wait for further reports before drawing any conclusions.
