A reliable leak suggests that iOS 26 will be compatible only with the iPhone 11 and newer, marking the end of major software support for older models like the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR.
The rumor comes from a private X (formerly Twitter) account with a strong track record, including accurate predictions about iOS 18 compatibility last year. While Apple has yet to confirm the details, the source is considered trustworthy.
If the information holds up, iOS 18 will be the last major update for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. These devices will still receive security updates but won’t be eligible for new iOS features going forward.
According to the leak, iOS 26 will support the following iPhone models:
- iPhone 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 / 12 mini / 12 Pro / 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 / 13 mini / 13 Pro / 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 / 14 Plus / 14 Pro / 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 15 / 15 Plus / 15 Pro / 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Series (including 16e, Pro, and Plus variants)
- iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)
- Future iPhone 17 lineup
However, keep in mind that some advanced features—like Apple Intelligence—will require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, meaning older models may miss out on the most cutting-edge tools.
The first beta version of iOS 26 is expected on June 9 right after Apple’s WWDC 2025 keynote, with the public rollout scheduled for September.
Stay tuned as Apple officially announces the update and compatibility details next week.
