Nicole Kidman has opened up about the challenges she faced while filming her latest movie, Babygirl, an erotic thriller now showing in UK cinemas.

The film, written and directed by Halina Reijn, explores the intense relationship between a high-powered CEO, Romy (played by Kidman), and her younger intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson).

Kidman revealed in an interview with The Sun that the film’s sexually charged scenes left her feeling emotionally and physically drained.

She admitted to pausing filming at times, saying, “There were moments where I thought, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore.’ I was over it. It felt like burnout.”

A Challenging Role

Kidman described Babygirl as her “most exposing” film to date. The movie dives deep into the power dynamics between Romy and Samuel, with Antonio Banderas playing Romy’s husband, Jacob.

“There was a lot of trust and sharing on set,” Kidman said. “But there were also moments of frustration. I didn’t want to be touched anymore. It was so present all the time that it became overwhelming.”

The Role of Intimacy Coordinators

To help with the explicit scenes, the production brought in intimacy coordinator Lizzy Talbot. Both Kidman and Dickinson praised her work in creating a safe and comfortable environment.

“I believe in the sacredness of the set,” Kidman shared. “It’s a space for actors, and it should never be violated. Lizzy helped ensure that trust was maintained.”

Dickinson echoed this sentiment, saying, “She broke unnecessary barriers and made difficult conversations easier.”

A Director’s Vision

Kidman credited director Halina Reijn for handling the film’s sensitive themes with care. “I knew Halina wouldn’t exploit me,” Kidman said.

“This was a story I wanted to tell, and I trusted her completely. We were all gentle with each other on set.”

Reception and Release

Babygirl has generated significant buzz for its raw portrayal of passion and power. The film is now playing in cinemas across the UK, with viewers praising its daring approach and Kidman’s powerful performance.

Whether you’re drawn to its steamy scenes or its exploration of complex relationships, Babygirl promises to leave a lasting impression.
