Hytale developers have launched a bug bounty program, offering players over $25,000 for reporting validated security bugs and vulnerabilities in the game.
The sandbox hit has already proven massive since its early access launch, becoming the most-watched game on Twitch and reportedly drawing 2.8 million concurrent players. As expected with early access, bugs and technical issues have appeared.
To stay ahead of potential problems, the developers are rewarding players who identify security flaws, including authentication and client/server exploits. In a post on X, the team thanked security researchers and confirmed that bounties have already been paid out for validated reports.
Players interested in participating can submit issues directly to Hytale’s security team, who will validate and triage reports while keeping reporters updated. Only players aged 18 or older using their own accounts are eligible. Additional rules apply, which the developers urge participants to review before submitting.
Hytale devs acknowledged that the game is still a work in progress. In a recent blog post, they noted: “It’s only been two months since we reacquired Hytale – and that’s how long we’ve had to prepare the game and rebuild the team from the ground up.”
Despite the bumpy launch, the developers reassured players they are committed to resolving reported issues and ensuring the game reaches its full potential.
The bug bounty program represents a major step toward securing the game and rewarding the community for helping maintain a safe and smooth experience.
