HBO Max is set for an exciting July 2025 with a strong lineup of new films, original series, and live sports events. Leading the arrivals is the highly anticipated Sinners (2025), a unique blend of historical drama and horror from acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler.

Top New Releases

Sinners debuts on July 4 and has already become the highest-grossing original movie of the decade. The film combines vampire lore with racial politics set in the 1930s Mississippi Delta.

It stars Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as the Smoke Stack twins, alongside Miles Caton as “Preacher Boy,” a gifted blues musician whose music unintentionally summons vampires. The supporting cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, and Jack O’Connell.

Other notable films arriving in July include two recent releases from indie distributor A24:

  • Opus (July 11), a dark comedy-horror starring Ayo Edibiri and John Malkovich about a pop star and his cult-like fans.
  • Death of a Unicorn (July 25), featuring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega as a father-daughter duo who encounter a magical baby unicorn with dangerous parents. The film blends horror and comedy with performances from Will Poulter and Anthony Carrigan.

HBO Originals and Documentaries

July also brings new HBO originals like:

  • Rage (Furia), a Spanish series exploring the interconnected lives of five women.
  • Billy Joel: And So It Goes, a documentary about the musician’s recent health diagnosis and his ongoing career, featuring rare performances and archival footage.

Streaming Library Highlights

Fans can stream popular titles including the original and rebooted Mortal Kombat films, just ahead of the new Mortal Kombat 2 theatrical release this October. Horror enthusiasts will enjoy classics like Insidious, Get Out, and both versions of The Amityville Horror joining the platform.

Additionally, the critically acclaimed A24 film On Becoming a Guinea Fowl from Zambian filmmaker Rungano Nyoni arrives on July 4.

Live Sports and Wrestling

HBO Max’s live sports offering in July includes Major League Baseball games, NASCAR races, and U.S. Women’s Soccer matches.

The platform will also broadcast All Elite Wrestling (AEW) events regularly throughout the month, including Dynamite, Collision, and special events such as AEW Forbidden Door and AEW All Out.
