Gamers waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6 may soon have another option to pass the time. A new AAA open-world game called Samson is set to launch in early 2026, months before GTA 6’s expected release in November.

Samson is being developed by Liquid Swords, a studio led by Christofer Sundberg, the former creative lead on the original Just Cause games at Avalanche Studios. The game is described as a modern open-world action-adventure with a strong focus on driving, combat, and large-scale destruction.

According to the developer, Samson will release first on PC, with console versions planned for a later date. Liquid Swords says launching on PC first allows the small team to focus on quality without spreading resources too thin.

While GTA 6 is expected to launch only on consoles at first, Samson may appeal to PC players who will not have immediate access to Rockstar’s next title.

Gameplay footage and developer statements suggest Samson blends elements from Grand Theft Auto, Just Cause, and Mad Max. The game places heavy emphasis on vehicle-based combat, physical driving, and close-range fights.

In a developer Q&A, Liquid Swords said the game is set in a grounded, modern city and aims for a more personal, character-driven tone. The studio also noted that progression is steady and designed to be enjoyable from the start.

With GTA 6 still months away, Samson could offer open-world fans a temporary alternative and help fill the long wait for Rockstar’s next major release.
