Just when Rockstar Games was preparing to release the third trailer for GTA 6, a new gameplay leak has surfaced online — and it’s causing quite a stir.
The leaked clip shows Jason, one of the game’s two main characters, crawling across the ground. While prone mechanics are common in games like Call of Duty, it would be a first for the Grand Theft Auto series.
Fans have long joked about GTA’s awkward attempts at stealth missions in previous games, but the crawling feature could finally give players a better way to sneak around in GTA VI’s massive open world.
However, it’s unclear if this crawling ability will make it into the final release. Some suggest the footage might be from an early build, or that it could just be part of a cutscene animation — not actual gameplay.
Reactions online have been mixed:
- “Why would they cut this? It would have added so much to stealth gameplay,” one fan complained.
- Others argued it may have never been a gameplay feature in the first place.
GTA 6 is still set to release on 26 May 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Whether or not we’ll get crawling mechanics remains to be seen — but one thing’s for sure: the hype (and leaks) isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
