Gamers around the world are excited for the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on May 26, 2026. But for millions of players, launch day may not be so exciting after all.
It’s now been confirmed that GTA 6 will not launch on PC at first. Rockstar Games has decided to release the long-awaited game only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S at launch. That news has left a large portion of the gaming community feeling disappointed, especially dedicated PC gamers.
Many frustrated fans took to Reddit to share their disappointment. Some are already planning to buy a console just to play it on release day. One player joked: “If you saved 80 cents a day since the announcement, you could afford a PS5 by launch.”
But others warned that buying the game on console might be a trap. Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, is known for re-releasing their games across multiple platforms to increase profits. It’s likely that GTA 6 will later release again for next-gen consoles and eventually on PC — meaning some players might buy the game multiple times.
Many believe the eventual PC release will be the best version, with better graphics and mods. But by the time that happens, those who bought it early might feel pressured to buy it again for the full experience.
For now, GTA 6 will remain a console exclusive when it first drops, leaving many PC players frustrated and waiting.
