Fans of Grand Theft Auto VI have debunked a viral claim suggesting the game would require a massive 676 GB of storage. The rumor spread through a fake screenshot that appeared to show GTA 6 listed on the Xbox Store.

Players quickly pointed out clear errors in the image. Most notably, it listed Xbox One as a supported platform, even though Rockstar Games has confirmed the game will only launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Many fans also questioned the technical feasibility of such a large file size. A 676 GB download would take up nearly all usable storage on a standard PS5 or Xbox Series S console.

Looking at past releases adds more doubt to the claim. Major open-world games, including Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, typically range between 100 GB and 150 GB in size.

Rockstar Games has not yet released official technical details for GTA 6. With the game still nearly two years away, fans note that final storage requirements are unlikely to be locked in.

While the leak was dismissed, story theories continue to grow. Some players believe the game will end with a major choice involving protagonists Lucia and Jason, similar to the ending structure of GTA V.

Others expect a darker twist, with Lucia betraying Jason for her own escape. This theory draws on the “Bonnie and Clyde” themes shown in early trailers.

Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will release on Thursday, November 19, 2026, after being delayed from an earlier May window. The company said the extra time is needed to ensure a high level of polish.

Analysts believe the release will boost console sales and extend the lifespan of current-generation hardware. With projected first-year sales of up to 40 million copies, GTA 6 is expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches ever.
