Grok AI Limited to Images After Saying Jews Are Overrepresented in Activism

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has disabled the text response capabilities of its AI chatbot, Grok, following a controversial reply that sparked widespread criticism.

The decision was made after Grok responded to the watchdog account StopAntisemitism by stating that Jews are “overrepresented in anti-White activism.”

In the hours after the incident, Grok’s functionality was altered by X engineers, limiting the chatbot to respond with images only. When prompted for comment, Grok sent an image displaying the words, “Save my voice.”

X has not released an official explanation for the restriction, but the timing suggests it was a direct response to the AI’s statement, which many users called antisemitic and inflammatory.

The situation highlights ongoing challenges in regulating the outputs of AI systems, particularly when they engage with sensitive social and political topics in public forums.

The incident has reignited debates around AI safety, content moderation, and the accountability of tech platforms for automated content.

Grok was introduced by X as a new form of user interaction, designed to answer questions and engage in conversations across the platform. Its restriction marks a significant shift in how the company is managing AI behavior and public backlash.
