Google Will Release Android 16 Early—Here’s the Exact Date

Google is launching Android 16 earlier than usual. The tech giant is expected to roll out the update on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, starting with its Pixel phones and tablets.

This marks a shift from Google’s typical late summer or fall Android releases. The company wants to give manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi more time to prepare their custom software ahead of major smartphone launches.

By moving up the timeline, Google hopes to ensure new flagship phones can ship with the latest Android version on day one.

Pixel users will be the first to get Android 16 as an over-the-air (OTA) update, available directly through the Settings app.

The update brings several new features:

  • Lock screen widgets return, boosting productivity.
  • Improved multitasking tools for foldables and tablets.
  • Enhanced AI features that build on Google’s recent I/O announcements.

While Google hasn’t confirmed the June 3 release date, multiple reports point to it as the public rollout day. Users can expect a smoother, more intelligent Android experience—especially those with foldable or large-screen devices.
